>What Is A Responsible Citizen
I take umbrage to that page titled "What Is A Responsible Citizen?" I don't agree with any of it. What do you mean by writing that duties come before rights? My rights are the most important thing. More important than anyone else and much more important that any duty imposed upon me. I didn't cause this mess, so it isn't up to me to do anything to fix it. Just give me what I deserve. Someone else can work on the problems.
I disagree with that list of character examples too. Humility? Why bother? I know I'm better than most people, why show any false humility? Patience and compassion? Not my job. Leave that to the government to handle.
Enthusiasm for life? What is there to be enthusiastic about? All I see is bad news. Worst of all is that line about sense of wonder. Are you kidding me? Those young kids might as well know right now that their future is in the dumper. Get what they can now and don't worry about who they step on to get it.
As for respecting the rights of others, let's be real. Everyone is not created equal. Some are just a waste of good oxygen and not worth rescuing. If they are already a burden to society, or if testing proves they will be after birth, just get rid of the problems. We have enough already and I don't want any of my government subsidies going to anyone but me.
None of this is my fault. I say tax the rich, stop paying all that welfare money and take care of the rest of us. Send us more stimulus money and make it tax free. Give us more free money. Ignore those “do-gooders” who keep yapping about personal responsibility.
If they just realized what would happen if we followed the misguided words on your page. We'd be burdened with a new generation that insisted on creating opportunities for everyone, even the ones who don't deserve it.
We'd see a new wave of people paying their own bills and not expecting the government to bail them out. Speaking of bail, why shouldn't I be able to steal from stores with no penalty? I'm the victim, so why shouldn't I be able to ignore any laws and just steal what I want?
Your crazy ideas would lead to a generation who thought they needed to earn what they got. They would waste time reaching out to help people and teach them to help themselves. This could get way out of hand.
They would start a peaceful revolution of thought that sought to encourage people to look out for each other and to pay their bills. They would expect us to follow the laws.
They would infect too many other people with that despicable sense of wonder which would lead to new confidence. Conflicts would be resolved and barriers would break down. People would be expected to become part of the solution, instead of adding to the problems. They would grab on to that notion of duty to country.
If we weren't careful, we could be faced with peace on earth and good will toward all people. That would ruin everything. Peace on earth? Good will toward all people? Do you want to be responsible for that?
