"Cultivate Love and Compassion"

I'm enjoying reading your website especially the parts about being courageously compassionate. I've always liked a short essay from Steve Maraboli which I've included today. Maybe some others could find comfort in it too.

"In this busy world we should never be a stranger to love and compassion. It is fertile soil in the garden of peace. We must welcome them into our hearts and teach them in our homes. Love and compassion must be cultivated and nurtured like the most precious of our possessions.

Let them embrace all you do. Let them flow like a timeless melody. Embrace love and compassion with all your spirit. Understand that they never hurt or offend, they just heal and empower.

It is only with true love and compassion that we can begin to mend what is broken in our world. It is only those two blessed things than can begin to heal all the broken hearts.

Love and compassion are the mother and father of a smile. We need to create more smiles in our world today. Smiles, after all, pave the way to a happy world.

A smile can touch a person's life in way you can never imagine. It's infectious and can cause a chain reaction. It can be memorable to someone you pass on the street or the mall or even driving. It only takes a split second to smile and forget, yet to someone that needed it, it can last a lifetime. We should all smile more often.

So give freely to the world these gifts of love and compassion. Do not concern yourself with how much you receive in return, just know in your heart it will be returned.

We need to cultivate true love and compassion.

Remember: If love is defensive-it's not love. If love is offensive-it's not love. Love is pure, kind, and compassionate.

Let's begin today."
